What is the “Backpacks for Back to School” campaign?
Many foster care kids are unable to learn properly due to a lack of school supplies. During the Covid-19 pandemic, when supplies can no longer be shared, these children need back-to-school essentials more than ever.
But this year won’t be that way because this year there’s you … and the Backpacks for Back to School Campaign!
This Touching Heart Kids on a Mission program is working to supply these much needed items to those who need it most. Our goal is to donate 100 backpacks – loaded full of school supplies – for students who may not be able to properly prepare for going back to class.
But it’s not just about paper, pens, or binders – it’s about giving the gift of opportunity in school and life that many children might not receive otherwise.
When asked about the impact that access to free school supplies has on students, educators reported the following:
- 95% reported that access to free supplies is critical to creating a more equal learning environment for students
- 91% reported an increase in preparedness
- 83% reported a significant increase in participation
- 78% reported a significant increase in student self-esteem

Join us as we partner with local foster care systems to provide backpacks and school supplies to vulnerable students in our community.
How can I donate?
We are collecting monetary donations (click here to contribute). A donation of $35 will provide one backpack, completely filled with school supplies; however, any donation amount can be accepted.
We are also accepting physical donations of unused, brand new school supplies and backpacks.

- Pocket Folders
- Pencil Pouches/Boxes
- Crayon Packs
- Paper Packs
- Highlighters
- No. 2 Pencils
- Scissors
- Erasers
- Colored Pencils
We are also accepting store gift cards to purchase the needed school supplies.

The deadline for supplies and donations is July 8th.
Supplies can be dropped off in the collection box outside the following location:
