This amazing event was spearheaded by two Cooper Middle School 8th Graders, Sam Yi and Eliza Siegel. The event set a record by raising more than $4,300!!! This was more than enough to purchase duffel bags for hundreds of children at Fairfax County Foster Care. The teens are now planning to fill those bags with toiletries and goodies for each child! The girls were inspired to take on the project after they learned that most of the foster care kids carry their belongings in trash bags. Not only will they have duffel bags to carry their items but they’ll also gain a sense of dignity and love and care. Thank you, Sam and Eliza, for your dedication to carry this through to the end. Your hard work and your beautiful art inspired other children and teens at the event to see that they too can help others. We want to thank our committed moms, Trish and Suzanne, for leading the girls. It is always the parents who provide the greatest support and role models for our children. We thank you for your hard work. On behalf of the Touching Heart Board, Advisory Board, and community supporters, GREAT JOB girls! We know you put a lot of work preparing for the event and we are so proud of you.
